 Guidance for English papers (Springer CCIS)

In order to prepare a paper please download and familiarize with the general instructions and description attached below.
The final document have to be prepared in LaTeX source.
(Please do not use automatic converter Word-LaTeX. The result is totaly bad and the whole paper needs to be recreated.)

Accepted papers in English will be published in the conference proceedings by Springer CCIS.

  • The papers are limited to 10-15 pages.
  • Final versions of papers must be accompanied by completed and signed copyright transfer forms.
  • Prior to an abstract or full paper submission an author registration is required
  • All accepted papers should be submitted using llncs.cls class.
  • Use the template, and the instructions included, to prepare final version of your accepted paper.
  • Please download the instruction set (style template, guide, Editor's notes).

To ensure the quality of the proceedings book it is essential that authors adhere closely to instructions given.

  • Use only well-known packages.
  • The bibliography should be created using \begin{thebibliography}{99.}
  • Pictures (vector graphics is recommended) should be gray-scaled in EPS format
  • Picture and table labels should contain author registration id, i.e. \label{idauthor:fig:1}
  • Bibliography labels should contain author registration id, i.e. \bibitem{idauthor:monograph}
  • Do not define global variables
  • Manuscripts submitted in a form that is technically unsuitable will be rejected
  • For review purpose please upload your file only in PDF format.
  • The final version of your paper has to be uploaded as a single file in ZIP format, containing all source TEX files, the final DVI, PS or PDF files and all presented pictures in EPS format.

Manuscript authors are expected to meet the highest standards of writing quality and adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Use a clear, easy-to-follow outline.
  • Use first-order, second-order, and third-order headings to assist the reader in following the presentation.
  • Write in the third person. (DO NOT USE FIRST PERSON!)
  • Define all acronyms on first use.

An accepted paper will be published in the conference proceedings only if:

  • the final version is accompanied by the registration,
  • payment information for at least one of the authors,
  • submitted completed and signed copyright transfer form.

With submitting a paper to the CN2021 Conference the Author(s) declare that they did not submitted this paper to any other conference or journal, and one of them will attend the conference to present the paper during oral session.
It is also recommended to read the instructions direct from Springer: Proceedings and Other Multiauthor Volumes.

Some Common Mistakes in English

  • The subscript for common scientific constants, is zero with subscript formatting, not a lowercase letter “o”.
  • A graph within a graph is an “inset”, not an “insert”. The word alternatively is preferred to the word “alternately” (unless you really mean something that alternates).
  • Do not use the word “essentially” to mean “approximately” or “effectively”.
  • The word “data” is plural, not singular.
  • In your paper title, if the words “that uses” can accurately replace the word “using”, capitalize the “u”; if not, keep using lower-cased.
  • Be aware of the different meanings of the homophones “affect” and “effect”, “complement” and “compliment”, “discreet” and “discrete”, “principal” and “principle”.
  • Do not confuse “imply” and “infer”.
  • The prefix “non” is not a word; it should be joined to the word it modifies, usually without a hyphen.
  • There is no period after the “et” in the Latin abbreviation “et al.”.
  • The abbreviation “i.e.” means “that is”, and the abbreviation “e.g.” means “for example”.
  • In American English, commas, semi-colons, periods, question and exclamation marks are located within quotation marks only when a complete thought or name is cited, such as a title or full quotation. When quotation marks are used, instead of a bold or italic typeface, to highlight a word or phrase, punctuation should appear outside of the quotation marks. A parenthetical phrase or statement at the end of a sentence is punctuated outside of the closing parenthesis (like this). (A parenthetical sentence is punctuated within the parentheses.)
